A message from Joseph Mirrione, the creator of Pop, Rock & Doo Wopp events:
I grew on Long Island, just a few minutes away from Westbury Music Fair. It was an exciting time, because Bobby Rydell, Frank Sinatra, Doo Wopp shows, Sammy Davis, Jr., Chicago, Vanilla Fudge – a very eclectic cast of characters – were all playing there within days of each other on a routine basis. We would wait for the next “Inner Circle” newsletter to arrive – just 1 or 2 typewritten sheets of paper listing all of the upcoming events. There were no photos, no show descriptions, just the artists’ names and ticket prices. You’d have to quickly pick your shows, call your friends, tally up the total and mail a check to get the best seats before they went on sale to the public. We’d sometimes drive to the post office in Westbury to put the check in the mail box there, hoping it would get to the theater a day earlier and increase our chances of getting seats in the coveted first few rows – and sections “A” and “H”, where the stars trotted down the aisle to the stage at show time. There were no more exciting days in my household than the days when those Inner Circle newsletters arrived – except for maybe when the tickets themselves arrived.
I don’t take myself very seriously, but I take what I do very seriously, because I know our concerts mean a lot to our audiences as well as our artists. I also know that getting the best seats – as soon as possible – means a lot to many of our friends and fans. I’m taking a few steps immediately to show you how important your satisfaction is to me.
Here’s a little background and the road map to where we’re going…
- We originally conceived of our “Insider Events Newsletter” as a way for people to stay abreast of our concert announcements. Sometimes, these announcements were sent before the show went on sale, some were sent as the show was going on sale, and sometime the announcements were sent after the best seats were already gone. We will be converting to a more systematic approach, detailed below, that will allow all of our fans the chance to find out about shows before they go on sale. Our “Insider Events Newsletter” subscribers will now be referred to as members of our own Inner Circle.
- We have long-offered our “Concierge Club” level of access to fans who sign up at our concerts. This has frequently, but not always, allowed for Pre-Sale Access to our shows. We’re now taking steps to ensure our biggest fans and supporters have Pre-Sale Access for every show possible. Our “Concierge Club” members will now be Gold Level members of our Inner Circle.
- There is a third level of Inner Circle member, the Platinum Level, which is by invitation only. Platinum perks will be afforded to our fans whose attendance has demonstrated they are more than just casual fans. Thresholds differ by market, but qualifiers include fans who have attended several shows in a market, attended shows in multiple states or purchased large blocks of premium tickets, for example. We look forward to sharing more of the details with those fans directly over the coming months.
As always, we’ll share concert updates and frequently offer pre-sale access to concerts through our Facebook group. You can join by simply clicking here.
