Video of Neil Sedaka singing Happy Birthday to Kathie Lee Gifford

August 16, 2014 by Joe Mirrione

Kathie Lee‘s 61st birthday is today, but her big surprise gift came on Friday on live TV when her old friend Neil Sedaka serenaded her with a custom-reboot of his big hit “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen.”

Co-host Hoda Kotb blind-folded her partner in crime (and wine) and led her to a studio where Sedaka waited behind a white grand piano.  KLG had no idea what to expect, but before the blindfold could be whisked off, the singer-songwriter launched into “Love Will Keep Us Together”, the 1975 hit he penned for Captain and Tennille.  “Is Neil Sedaka here?” Gifford exclaimed at the sound.  “I am so glad it’s someone I love because it’s awkward if it isn’t,” she quipped.  Watch the video below or click here if it doesn’t load.
